I bought this to use an SSD as a Time Machine for my iMac. The combination works very well. No hassles out of the box. Very easy and intuitive to use. I’ve bought a few of these particular enclosures.

Works well, may need powered USB hub

Used this to help make an SSD clone of a hard drive for a laptop. Worked fine standalone with the SSD drive.

Tried this with hard (magnetic) drive and desktop USB 3.0 port didn't have enough power to start it up. Added a powered USB hub in between with its own 5V 2A power supply and the hard drive worked fine. Not a product flaw, just a consideration since spinning up a typical 2.5" drive could draw over 1A of current that the USB port might not be able to provide.

Works fine, recommend for SSD drives, clean industrial design.
